FAQ

Other Frequently Asked Questions
  • Are decorations allowed? If so, are there any restrictions?
    • Most decorations are allowed, including candles (as long as they are either in a votive or have a large wax catch). Decorations that are permanent or cause damage to the building are not allowed including nails, staples, screws, etc… Confetti, fabric flowers, glitter, and other similar substances are not allowed.
  • Is there a designated smoking area?
    • Yes. Smoking is allowed in the Mural Courtyard and Railway Patio only.
  • Is there elevator access?
    • Yes, the whole building is ADA compliant. Our venue staff will personally escort any guests who may need to access our elevators and lifts.
  • Do you require an event planner and/or day-of-coordinator (DOC)? Do you provide one?
    • No, your rental includes the services of our venue coordinator. We highly recommend hiring either an event planner or DOC. Please see here for the differences between a venue coordinator and event planner. Also see here for list of recommended vendors.
  • Does my event rental come with a DJ?
    • No. The usage of our in-house audio system is included in the rental. Most clients will opt to create a simple (public) Spotify playlist that we can play on our system. For Private Events, you may hire our in-house DJ. We do not provide our in-house DJs for wedding events.
  • What is the parking situation like? Can I park in the driveway?
    • If the “driveway” (Mural Courtyard) is not rented, you may park there only for loading/unloading purposes. If you have other vendors, be mindful of parking there as they may need to pull in to load and unload as well. There is also a loading zone in the street in front of the building; this area is monitored and maintained by the city of Ann Arbor.
    • There are multiple parking lots within walking distance of our location; there are actually one on each corner (please see map below of all nearby parking locations). There is a parking structure across the street, which is attached to the apartment complex above. This structure is “Monthly Parking” before 3PM, and after 3PM, it is a flat $5 rate. Metered street parking is free after 6PM and on Sundays. Lastly, there is free parking in the residential streets nearby, but be mindful during the week of which side non-permit parking is allowed.
  • Regarding the “Railway Patio” – is that track an active train line? Will it disrupt my event? Can I call ahead to get the schedule?
    • The track that runs by our venue is an active train line, it is primarily used by freight trains! Unfortunately, the company that runs that line cannot disclose the schedule ahead of time due to security purposes. However, that being said, historically the train goes past during the day/morning hours. We have never had a train disrupt a wedding.
  • Does the venue setup my decorations and cleanup after me?
    • The short answer is no. The venue will setup anything that is the property of the venue, or any items that are rented by the client through the venue. For wedding events, the venue rental fee includes the services of teardown. Due to liaibility reasons, the client is responsible for setting up and tearing down any items purchased/rented by the client. Please see here for more information about setup and teardown.
  • Do I need to hire my own bar staff and security?
    • No! The venue rental fee includes the services of our bar staff and security. Please see here to learn more about this service.
  • What’s included in my bar package?
    • Our in-house inventory varies depending on the season, so we do not have a full list of all liquors and spirits. However, see this list for all the levels of alcohol that we offer for events, as well as upgrade options. This menu also showcases our current list of beers. If there is a specific liquor/beer you would like to include in your bar package, don’t hesitate to ask and we can see if it’s possible to order and stock it for your event. All orders must be placed at least two weeks in advance. All additions outside of what is included in your package will reflect an upcharge.
Are there any nearby accommodations?
